HALL, Elaine (née Vautier) ‘Queenie’

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Elaine in her 83rd year on 9 October, 2014. After a long and lively reign, the Queen has stepped down. Elaine will be lovingly remembered by her ‘long-suffering’ husband (and hero) Harry of 47 years. Elaine is survived by her sisters Dionne Gysi (Switzerland) and Simonne (Sim) Guegan (Channel Islands) and her adoring nephews and nieces Pascale, Serge, Kim, Zillah, Oonagh, Wayne and Julian. Predeceased by her siblings Emile (Mel) Vautier and Germaine (Gem) Blair-Quigg, and nephews Paul and Nicholas. Mum will be remembered for her astonishing capacity for exaggerated story-telling, her British wit and her passion for community theatre. As a mother, she was a force to be reckoned with, sadly missed by her two daughters and sons-in-law Allison and Rob Menegoni (London) and Sarah and Blair Oddson (Aurora). Elaine was an adoring Nan and comic genius to her grandchildren Madelaine Menegoni, Hazel and Quinn Oddson. Elaine will be fondly remembered by many from Markham Little Theatre, the British Ladies Club and countless friends near and far. We thank the superb staff team at Southlake Hospital for the quality of care and support provided. Mum will remain a reminder to us all that humour in the face of adversity is the absolute best way to handle life’s challenges.
