CHOUDHURY, Liza

It is with incredible sadness and a heavy heart that we must announce that Liza, aged 39 years, passed away on Thursday, 26 October, 2023, at Overdale Hospital, surrounded by her family and best friends, after bravely fighting illness for several years.

Liza embodied the meaning of her name, which is Arabic for joy and devotion to God. She touched many hearts in the community of Jersey, teaching the beauty of Islam, kindness, love, and loyalty. She was a wonderful mother to her children, Mikael and Mariam, and her sense of compassion and exuberance will continue through them as her legacy.

Liza’s passion for education and inspiring young people was evident in the years of work she had as a teacher and youth worker.

She will be remembered for her joyful presence and willingness to help those in need.

Her funeral took place on Friday, 27 October and she now rests in Surville Cemetery, Jersey.
