Passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, 6 April, 2017, in her 94th year, widow of Dr Robert William (Bill) Johnston, dearly loved mother of Carol, David, Tim and Chris, mother-in-law of Richard, Sophie and Sarah and grandmother of Hermione, Sophie and Amber. On Wednesday, 5 April, 2017 we lost our sunshine. Strong, kind hearted but most of all always there for us. We cannot thank the caring, dedicated staff of Silver Springs enough for everything they did and the staff of Corbière Ward for helping her find her strength again, to Teresa and Sheila, there will never be enough words to thank you. Love you now and forever.

My beautiful Mum, my first love. A Mum who was always there for me through thick and thin, laughter and tears. We had our moments, but who doesn’t. The love and admiration between a mother and daughter will never end. Even though I don’t get to see you or speak to you, you will always be in my heart and my memories. You will always be with me like I was for you, all our chats will stay with me for ever. Being reunited with Dad gives comfort. My heart is broken but I’m truly grateful I had you in my life for 53 years. To see your grandsons grow up into loving, caring men, the ‘Boys’ you adored. On Wednesday we do our final farewell but it’s not farewell it’s ‘See you later’ x. Thank you to the wonderful carers at St Ewolds for caring for my beautiful Mum and for also being caring and concerned about me too, in the last three weeks of her life. It is truly appreciated. Mum you were a true fighter.

With tearful eyes we watched you slowly fade away, Although we loved you dearly we could not make you stay. Your golden heart stopped beating, Your beautiful smile at rest, It’s lonesome here without you, However we know you are by our side. And now it’s time to hand you back to Dad’s open arms.
