Passed away peacefully in Jersey on Friday, 14 December, 2018, aged 81 years, beloved husband of Margaret, brother of Tanya and Sonia, father of Ivan and Anya, step-father of Alison and beloved grandfather of Ben, Tom, Charlie, Lucinda and Rosie. Mountaineer and mountain rescuer, adventurer, teacher, single-handed transatlantic sailor and inveterate writer of thought-provoking letters. He will be much-missed by all who knew him. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no funeral, however donations in memory of Mike, in lieu of flowers, may be sent to RNLI, Mr Philip Barber, Honorary Treasurer, St Helier Lifeboat Station, Albert Quay, St Helier, Jersey, JE2 3NE.
