Neal, Sue, Debbie, Malcolm and the rest of the family would like to express their sincere and heartfelt thanks to all who attended Barbara’s funeral. Also for the many cards, flowers and messages of condolence and support in our loss. We would also like to express our gratitude to Bill Matthews who conducted the service with love and sensitivity and to Paul Battrick of Pitcher & Le Quesne for his expert consideration and guidance. Passed away peacefully in the loving care of Jersey Hospice, surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, 17 December, 2016, aged 52 years, beloved wife of 31 years to Brent, adored Mum to Luke and Lauren, much-loved daughter to Sylvia and George and loved sister of Lee. What is dying?I am standing on the seashore, a ship sails in the morning breeze and starts for the ocean. She is an object of beauty and I stand watching her till at last she fades on the horizon and someone at my side says, “She is gone”. Gone!Where?Gone from my sight that is all. She is just as large in the masts, hull and spars as she was when I saw her, and just as able to bear her load of living freight to its destination. The diminished size and total loss of sight is in me, not in her, and just at the moment when someone at my side says, “She is gone”, there are others who are watching her coming, and other voices take up a glad shout, “There she comes!”, and that is dying.
