SEWELL, Sandie (née Barker)

David would like to thank all our friends who for the past 22 months supported us through Sandie’s illness. The calls, visits, and cards, really meant the world to us both. To all the marvellous Hospice staff, the driver volunteers, and all the carers, your kindness at difficult times made all the difference to us. To all the staff, doctors, and consultants in the Oncology Units at the General, and in Southampton, who strived to give Sandie and me more time together, my heartfelt thanks. To Betty and Albert for a phone call every day without fail, my thanks. Thank you to all who attended Sandie’s funeral led by Sandie’s ‘pal from Hospice’ the Reverend Debbie Godefroy, and to Nicola and Dave for their reminiscences and readings at such an emotional occasion. To Steve at Maillard’s who met all our requests with compassion and understanding, and helped make Sandie’s funeral such an appropriate celebration of her life. Finally, but most importantly, thank you to my darling Sandie, wife and mother for 42 years of love, life, fun and happiness. Sleep well babes, I love and miss you so much XX.

LE CORNU, Gavin Edward

Gav, You were such a very very special much-loved son, a one off, after you they broke the mould. It seems almost unbelievable that they could cram so much charisma into such a small package. A shining star who saw the best in everyone. You would light up people’s lives wherever you went and were loved by all whose lives you touched. You were an infectious character with a zest for life and you lived it in the fast lane. I was so proud of you on the day of your wedding to Sarah I realised what an exceptional young man you had grown into. Thank you and Sarah for my beautiful surprise birthday party, which leaves another fabulous family memory for us all. Gav, we will always be here for your princess and will look after her. Now you are reunited with your much-loved Grandma and will take care of each other. Enjoy the crazy golf and the corned beef sandwiches. A Dad couldn’t wish for a better son, but you were more than a son you were my best friend. Taken far too young with so much to look forward to. I am utterly devastated by the huge void that you have left in my life and in many other lives. Heaven must have needed a special person to brighten it up.

Your heartbroken Dad. xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
