– Jessie’s family would like to say a sincere and heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended Mum’s funeral, and to all who sent cards, letters and online messages of condolence. Special thanks to Rev Martin Dryden who conducted a beautiful service, exactly the funeral that Mum would have wanted, assisted by Deacon Sally Wheadon, Mum’s neighbour and good friend. Thank you to Liz Wood for playing the organ, and the Funeral Choir for their contribution, also the Honorary Police. Most grateful thanks to Neil Dingle and the team at De Gruchy’s Funeral Care for their care and attention and support for the family at a very difficult time. We can never thank Anne, Ruth and her team from Gentle Care Ltd enough for their years of care of Mum, which enabled her to remain in her own home and to have such a good quality of life in her later years. They became part of Mum’s family and each of the ladies contributed something special and individual to her care. It is impossible to name all of Mum’s friends who contributed to her wellbeing and enjoyment of life with regular visits etc, but we are especially grateful to her devoted friends, Mildred and Elizabeth Dorey who made Mum’s life so special, David Munns and Monica and her wonderful neighbours Margaret and the late Lawrence and Michael and Pru, for whom nothing was too much trouble, especially in the last weeks of her life. It would be remiss not to thank the paramedics, the staff in A & E, EAU, Bartlett Ward and lastly, Sorel Ward and Dr Chacko for working so hard to enable Mum to come home for her last days. Sincere thanks too to Dr Daniel Albert and Dr Jaakola, the out of hours doctors on duty when Mum became unwell. Special thanks to Dr Nigel Minihane for many years of devoted care and friendship and, more recently, Dr Henry Paul. We are also grateful to Family Nursing and Tracy Fallon and the Palliative Care team for their assistance in Mum’s last days. Finally, thank you to all who have made donations to the treasurer of the states via De Gruchy’s Funeral Care. These funds are going, at Mum’s request, towards the ongoing work of the eye clinic at the hospital, where Mum received treatment that enabled her to carry on with her beloved sewing until very nearly the end of her life.
