Died Sunday, 21 August, 2016, aged 81 years. John Sankey spent his entire career at De La Salle Jersey, initially as a teacher then Headmaster and finally as a Governor of the College. John Sankey was a true servant of the College and has undoubtedly touched the lives of many people in Jersey. Details regarding the funeral and an address for Mass cards and so forth, will be circulated as soon as they are made available by John’s family. It is the intention of the College to hold a Memorial Mass at some point in the future, here in the Island, where the life and service of John Sankey can be remembered and honoured. I am sure that there are many others who knew and worked with John, who want to express their sorrow at the news of John’s death. May I ask that you join me in remembering John and his family in your prayers today. “God of the living and the dead, you brought Jesus back to life;- raise up the faithfully departed and let us come with them into your heavenly glory. Amen. Eternal Rest, Grant unto John, O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him, may he rest in peace, Amen. Live Jesus in our hearts. Forever!”God bless.
