SAMPSON, Sue

Michael would like to offer his most grateful and loving thanks to the many friends who attended the service on 28 May to honour and respect Sue, who passed so suddenly and unexpectedly on 24 April. The hardest goodbyes are those you don’t see coming. Thank you to everyone who sent cards or messages of condolence, or who stopped Michael in shops, or in the street, to offer sympathy. Thank you to Jo-Anne Rentsch who took on the role of Civil Celebrant and carried it out perfectly. Thank you to Ben for nailing the poem dedicated to Sue in such a fitting manner. Thank you to Sue’s friends and fellow gym devotees, particularly Simone and ‘the D W Pack’ who spoke lovingly and eloquently in the four tributes to Sue at the service. You captured so well her commitment, discipline, determination and high level achievements in the gym, together with the thoughtfulness and encouragement she showed to others, especially newcomers. Sue would have been thrilled, amazed and immensely proud by the outpouring of praise, affection and kindness shown in her memory. There are so many more thanks and words of appreciation to record. Thank you to the Emergency Services who ensured Sue’s urgent passage to ICU. Thank you to the most wonderful caring doctors and nurses in ICU who for 36 hours fought to save Sue’s life. The inevitable occurred. She was just 73 years. Thank you to Cherie Le Maistre of Pitcher & Le Quesne whose expertise, care, comfort, solace and attention to detail were immense. Cherie, you were so professional and yet so very human. Sue was an exceptional person, hugely loved, respected and admired by Michael and now forever missed by him and her friends. RIP dearest Sue. You were, and always will be, once, twice, three times a lady.

RENNELL, Colin David

Patricia, the wife of the late Colin expresses her thanks to relatives and friends who supported her during Colin’s illness, and who sympathised with her in the recent sad bereavement. Also, to those who sent cards and messages of condolence and attended his funeral. Special thanks to Andy and his team at Pitcher & Le Quesne for their dedicated assistance throughout and to Fr Nick of St Luke’s Church for the comforting and beautiful funeral service. To live in the hearts of those we love is not to die.
