MACFIRBHISIGH, Caoimhighin Iain KHS (Deacon)

Iain passed away peacefully, fortified by the Rites of the Holy Catholic Church on Friday, 25 March, 2022, aged 80 years, a devoted husband, soulmate and greatest friend to his wife Cheryl, respected and loved father to his sons Niall and Tadhg, and Poppa Beardie to his grandchildren of whom he was so proud. He will be greatly missed by his sister and brothers in Eire, his in-laws, nieces and nephews and by all who knew him.

A true gentleman to the end, full of Irish humour and wit.

Suaimhneas síoraí dó (eternal peace to him).

Funeral Service

Relatives and friends wishing to attend the funeral mass for Deacon Iain are invited to meet at St Thomas’ Catholic Church, Val Plaisant, St Helier on Monday, 11 April at 11 am, followed by a private interment.

The reception of Iain’s body into Church will take place at 2.30 pm on Sunday, 10 April for those wishing to attend.

Passed peacefully away in the arms of her beloved husband Peter of 42 years, on Sunday, 27 March, 2022, at Cheval Roc Residential Home after a battling bravely with a long and cruel illness. Much-loved mother of Justin and Emma, loved by Jody and Jono, and their families. She lived life to the full and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Riley, John – Many thanks to all who attended John’s funeral not only to pay their respects to him but also to support Mum and I, and to those who made donations to Jersey Hospice in his memory. We were not permitted to thank everyone who attended in person due to covid restrictions and we know that some were unable to attend the wake, but seeing so many of you there was much appreciated. Thank you to Reverend Danny Wheadon who made the service both at the Crematorium and the interment at St Clements Church so very special (together with a very timely gust of wind at the interment) and to Gill Hayes for her poem reading. Special thanks to Gareth at Pitcher & Le Quesne for guiding us expertly through the funeral arrangements with much sensitivity. – David Reynolds, together with David, Nikki and Louise would like to give thanks to the many people who sent cards and letters of condolence on their loss of Liz, to those who attended her funeral service, to the Rector of Holy Trinity Church, Geoff Houghton for leading such a beautiful service, to the Organist Nick Cabot, the Church Choir, to Andy Howell for reading during the service, and to Andy, the funeral director from Pitcher & Le Quesne. David would also like to thank Ian Clarke and Laurence Agnès his sons-in-law, in giving the Eulogy instead of Robert Jones his nephew, who fell ill with Covid days before the funeral. Thanks also to Harpers for arranging the reception, Woodside Farm Shop for the flowers, and the Parish of Trinity for allowing the wake to be held in the Parish Hall. Sincere thanks go to all the members of management and staff of both Ronceray Care Home and Cheval Roc Nursing and Care Home and to past and present doctors from the Island Medical Centre who all looked after her during the long final years of her life in care. David was especially thankful to the ladies of The Inner Wheel Club of Jersey, the ladies of Grainville Tennis Club, St George’s Retired Teachers’ Lunch Club, together with his children David, Nikki and Louise and their respective spouses who all gave significant help to him looking after Liz before she had to go in to full time care.

Liz was a very special person, taken from us far too soon. She will never be forgotten by those who knew her.
