DOB 14. 5. 26. Grandad, you were an inspiration, bringing light and love to everyone you met. Throughout your whole life you always gave to other people, you were selfless, generous, sincere, kind and always thought of others before yourself. You were a true gentleman, very respected and fondly thought of by many. Thank you for all the times we spent together, your unconditional love, advice, and the help you readily gave. We are so proud to have been part of your life, we will love you always. Forever dear in our hearts.

You were such a selfless man, your only concern for the welfare of others around you. I am so proud to have been your granddaughter. Peter and Theresa would like to thank everyone who attended the funeral service and sent cards of condolence. We thank the doctors at the Island Medical Centre for their prompt attention. We also thank the staff and doctors at the General Hospital and especially extend our gratitude to Dr Lumar of EAU and also Dr Nicky Bailhache, Dr Vicky Prince and nurse Liz of Corbière Ward for their care and attention throughout. The Jersey Ambulance Service provided a smooth transfer at a difficult time from hospital to Hospice for which we are grateful. The care provided by the staff of Jersey Hospice Care during the last few days is so much appreciated and will always be remembered and we particularly thank Judy, Lucy, Noreen, Adrian and Claire. The funeral mass held at St Thomas’ Catholic Church was commented on by all who attended and we thank Father James McAuley for his words of compassion and advice and particularly for his guidance during the service. We extend our gratitude to Aynslie Le Brun for the reading and Nick Crolla for the eulogy. We thank Sarah Aubert of Maillard’s for her compassion and attention to detail, as well as Joy Morgan also of Maillard’s, for helping with arrangements and organising the choir at the funeral mass. We also thank Jonathan Curwood of Curwoods for his careful attention ensuring we were at the right place at the right time.

Died peacefully in the presence of his loving family, on Saturday, 23 February, 2013, at 14. 49 at La Haule Care Home, cherished father, father- in-law, grandfather and great-grandfather. We little knew when we woke that morn, The sorrow the day would bring, The call was sudden, the shock severe, To part with one we loved so dear. Sometimes it’s hard to understand, Why some things have to be, In His wisdom, God has planned, Beyond our power to see. Linda, Jonathan and Matthew Roose would like to thank colleagues of their dearly loved daughter/sister, Nicola, at the States of Jersey Police during her hospitalisation and funeral for their great sympathy and support in the way they dealt with us.
